Department of Nano Biophotonics
The Department’s efforts are focused on the utilization of plasmonic effects in metallic nanostructures in the molecular ensemble, and their integration in technical environments. Synthetically made metal nanoparticles, especially, are transformed into complexes with novel properties by means of molecular components and integrated into engineering environments. On the one hand, these constructs are aimed at being used in bioanalytics for the highly sensitive, optically readable detection of, e.g., DNA on an array scale; on the other hand, this approach opens up a way to implement innovative nanoscale functional elements for nanophotonics.
