Measurements of droplet diameters

- Experimental set-up for 2D imaging of MIE and LIF signals in a spray
The measurement system allows single shot registration of 2D droplet size distributions in kerosene sprays. Simultaneous imaging of Mie scattering and laser-induced fluorescence was performed after excitation of a dense kerosene spray at 351 nm with a single excimer laser pulse.
The calibration measurements for spray imaging were performed using single droplets of well defined diameters. The high accuracy droplet diameter determination of single kerosene droplets is based on MDR (morphology dependent resonances) observed in the stimulated Raman spectrum (SRS).
