Research Team Develops Groundbreaking Microscopy Process

IPHT‘s Sensors Go to Mars

The rover, Curiosity, was launched from Cape Canaveral for Mars on November 26, 2011. Thermoelectric detectors from IPHT are on board the NASA mission. The Curiosity will analyze environmental conditions on Mars. IPHT’s sensors will measure the ground temperature in real time within a tenth of a kelvin from the GTS Boom platform. more...

Journey with Biophotonics into the Middle Kingdom: IPHT Director Receives Appointment as a Visiting Professor in China

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Popp, scientific director at IPHT Jena and chair of the physical chemistry department at the University of Jena, has been appointed to lecture as a visiting professor for the next three years at the University of Wuhan. Vice President of the University, Prof. Li Qingquan, highlighted Dr. Popp’s important international role in the field of biophotonics in his speech commemorating Popp’s inaugural visit in Wuhan. It is his hope that Dr. Popp will use his time as visiting professor to strengthen the exchange and collaboration in research between the Universities of Jena and Wuhan, said Li. Successful Collaboration between IPHT and the University of Stellenbosch: Congratulations to Alexander Heidt!

Alexander Heidt, 29, is the first doctoral student in the physical astronomy department of the University of Jena to complete a “per cotutelle” or double dissertation. (The French term refers to support given by two universities.)
